TMSA Hosted the Annual Robotic Challenge I

The first TMSA Robotic Challenge competition was held on March 14th 2015 at Triangle Math and Science Academy. Students from Elementary and Middle grades at TMSA as well as a student from Greensboro TMSA formed teams and participated in the event. The theme for the event was Line follower Competition. Students built robots using Lego Mindstorm and  kit that was programmed to autonomously follow a line on a mat.

The fastest robot to follow the line from Start to Finish wins the competition. There were two courses created with different complexity depending on the age group. The course was about 8’ feet long had curves and bends that were quite complicated. Most of the robots were able to complete the course. Some had difficulties completing it. This event provided opportunities for students to enhance their robot design and programming skills and work as teams. This event provided an experience similar to First Lego League (FLL) for the students.

For the Middle school (Level II) the team ‘Mindstorm Madness’ with Rishi Gupta, Snehil Mathur, Sharan Sivakumar secured first place; team ‘CyberPower’ with Raviteja Aechan and Aneesh Sreedhara secured Second place.

For the Elementary school (Level I) the team ‘Team Tofu’ with Nihal Abbu and Shuban Gouru secured first place. In the Elementary Open level, team ‘BAP’ with Aiden Rahaim, Baran Narravula, and Pranav Konda secured first place.

Congratulations to all participants who put lot of hard work and practice for the event.
