TMSA Elementary Robotics Team Receives Core Values Award

Two elementary school teams competed in a First Lego League regional competition in Winston Salem on November 15th. The teams competed in 4 Categories: Core Values (Integrity, Teamwork, and willingness to help other teams), a project, robot design, and a robot competition.
The project requirement was to teach people how to do something. The teams chose to do projects to help people recognize concussions and how to react when being approached by an aggressive dog. Both teams did a fantastic job with their projects and they were very well received by the judges. Both teams had solid robot designs although one team had a fatal bug that caused the robot to fail during the robot design judging phase.
Both teams had solid performances during the robot competition scoring respectable runs. As with the nature of the game there were some unpredictable results (for better and worse). One team having several lucky strokes to perform missions they had not planned for! The teams really impressed the judges in the core values with one of them taking home the first place trophy for Inspiration. Both teams had a fantastic time and learned a lot about robots, programming, design, an teamwork.
