3rd Grade Field Trip

To tie in with our 3rd grade Social Studies curriculum the 3rd grade took a field trip to the Legislative Building, the Governor’s Mansion, and the NC Natural History Museum. The 3rd graders were able to make real world connections with what they have been learning about throughout the year in the classroom.  The students were VERY impressed with the elaborate Governor’s Mansion that our new governor Pat McCrory resides in.  They couldn’t believe someone actually lived there!  After our visit to the Governor’s Mansion, we made our way to the Legislative Building.  We got to see where our North Carolina laws get voted on.  We even participated in a mock session where we voted on whether schools should have longer recess or not. Surprisingly, several students voted for shorter recess so that they could learn more during the day! Our last stop was the North Carolina Natural History Museum, where we toured several exhibits including famous North Carolinian athletes, Blackbeard and the Queen Anne’s Revenge, and even the lost colony.  It was a great experience and it was all right in TMSA’s backyard!

Thank you,

Miss Stephens
