TMSA at the MathCounts Chapter Level


February 13, 2016 – TMSA`s Math Team competed at the regional MATHCOUNTS competition with more than one hundred fifty students from nineteen middle schools. TMSA has received 4th place and Forrest L. competed at the Countdown session by 13th place in individual scores. 

The team has been studied very hard and received 4th place at the most competitive region of North Carolina State. Our team qualified to the state level of the math contest on March 12, 2016. A total of 41 schools and about 160 students will compete at the state level.


MATHCOUNTS is a national program designed to improve math skills among U.S. students.  The program focuses on middle school students, who are at a crucial stage in developing and sustaining math interest and ability.


The 2016 MATHCOUNTS Competition Series will consist of approximately 40,000 students, representing more than 5,500 schools from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, U. S. territories and Department of Defense and State Department affiliated schools. In North Carolina a total of 220 schools and over 2,000 students have been part of the 2016 competition.
