2nd Grade Events

The past few weeks have been filled with fun activities.  We've celebrated the birthday of Dr. Seuss and Read Across America, Pi Day, and are now preparing to catch a leprechaun on St. Patrick's Day.

For the birthday of Dr. Seuss we talked about our favorite book of his, read several of his stories, and learned about the life of Theodor Geisel himself.  We celebrated Wacky Wednesday and were able to wear crazy socks, dressed as our favorite Dr. Seuss character, and watched the movie Horton Hears A Who with popcorn donated by Beaver Creek Theater in Apex.

Leading up to Pi Day we worked hard to complete the longest paper chain representing the digits of pi.  The two second grade classes connected over 4,000 links!  Way to go!  The students were able to go outside and watch a "pi"e eating contest, judge pi posters, and throw pie at a teacher.

With St. Patrick's Day coming up, many of the students want to catch a leprechaun and get it's pot of gold!  2nd grade decorated their traps with bright colors and golden coins in hope of trapping one.  We'll find out on Monday if our efforts were successful!
