TMSA Math Team Will Compete at the State MATHCOUNTS Competition

February 15, 2014 – TMSA`s Math Team competed at the regional MATHCOUNTS competition with more than two hundred students from twenty eight schools. 

February 15, 2014 – TMSA`s Math Team competed at the regional MATHCOUNTS competition with more than two hundred students from twenty eight schools. Although most of the participants were 8th graders, our team had created only 6th and 7th grade students. The team has been studied very hard and received 11th place at the most competitive region of North Carolina State. As a wild card team, TMSA`s Math Team has been invited to the state level of the math contest on March 14, 2014. A total of 45 schools and 163 students will compete at the state level.

 

MATHCOUNTS is a national program designed to improve math skills among U.S. students.  The program focuses on middle school students, who are at a crucial stage in developing and sustaining math interest and ability.

 

The 2014 MATHCOUNTS Competition Series will consist of approximately 40,000 students, representing more than 5,500 schools from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, U. S. territories and Department of Defense and State Department affiliated schools. In North Carolina a total of 220 schools and over 2,000 students have been part of the 2014 competition.
