100th Day Celebration

This Tuesday February 25th we reached the 100th day of the school year milestone!  Many classes celebrated this occasion.  The 2nd graders made capes with 100 objects attached to it and became triple digit superheroes.

The students were all given a cape to take home and decorate with 100 items, and they all wore them on the 100th day to show off their creations.  We had a great time making 100 item trail mix with 10 groups of 10.  Parent volunteers numbered and hid 100 Hershey Kisses in the classroom and students had to find them all and match the number on the bottom to the corresponding one on the 100 number chart.  The kids worked up a sweat estimating and then performing as many of an activity (clapping their hands, jumping up and down, writing their name, etc.) as they could in 100 seconds.  Students also participated in a relay race, used an application to transform themselves and see what they might look like at 100 years old, and enjoyed some pizza during the celebration.  A great time was had by all, and the students are ready to "soar" through the rest of the year as 100th day superhero students!
