5A Language Arts: Cultural Sharing Day

Students in fifth grade language arts classes have been reading about various cultures around the world. We have discussed what our family heritage means to us, and how important it is to pass traditions on to each generation.

As a way of sharing various cultures, students in Ms. Lanham's class were allowed to share any kind of special clothing or dance that is an important part of their family heritage. Several students brought in articles of clothing or items used in special dances. Students recently created Heritage Booklets, as well, in which they shared their family trees and other interesting information about their families and where they came from. We have all learned some exciting new facts about each other as we have celebrated cultural diversity.
