TMSA Reading Program

TMSA Reading Program:

In the afternoons, during our dismissal times, students will be asked to quietly read. We are encouraging students to enjoy leisurely reading habits, as wells as making good use of down-time.

Language Arts teachers will be tracking the minutes that their students are reading. Our school is signed up through Pizza Hut’s BOOK IT! program. As students accomplish reading goals each month, they will receive coupons for free personal pizzas from Pizza Hut! Each class will try to achieve goals, together, and possibly win visits from well-known authors! TMSA will also provide a prize for the homeroom that has the most combined reading minutes each month. There will be one winner for K-3 and one winner for 4-7. Please help the teachers keep track of your child’s reading. As you notice them free-reading in the evenings or on weekends, record the minutes in their planners. Students may read books from home, bring books from the public library, or sign-out books from Language Arts teachers. The BOOK IT! program will run from October 1st through March 31st, but the TMSA contest will continue through the end of the school year.

If you would like more information about the BOOK IT! program, feel free to look at their website: I’m looking forward to watching our classes work together, to succeed in reading and inspire positive routines!
