TMSA`s AMC 8 (American Mathematics Competition) Results

November 19, 2013 – TMSA`s middle school students (sixth and seventh grade) competed in the AMC 8, an American Mathematics Competition. The AMC 8 is a twenty-five question, forty minute multiple-choice examination in middle school mathematics designed to promote the development and enhancement of problem solving skills. The contest is held in November every year.

The purpose of the AMC 8 is to promote excitement, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude toward mathematics and to stimulate interest in continuing the study of mathematics beyond the minimum required for high school graduation.
The three students from TMSA who received honor roll certificates (top 5%) were Forrest L., Benjamin W., and Nikita F. Sixth grade student Forrest L. had 21 right answers out of 25. He was one of the 75 students to score this high among the 20,000 sixth grade participants across the United States. We commend the TMSA students who participated in this competition.
